Vacation Bible School

“God’s Heroes”
“Héroes de Dios”
Mark your calendars because you won’t want to miss out on this year’s VBS. Our theme is “God’s Heroes - from Ordinary to EXTRAORDINARY!” We will explore five of God’s terrific heroes in the Bible and how God took these ordinary people and made them extraordinary!
Plan on joining us to explore how God calls ordinary people to do extraordinary things! Find out how Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego, Joseph, Esther, Mary and Peter become great heroes in the Bible! Our curriculum was written in partnership again with our brothers and sisters in Christ from Mexico. We will be welcoming 5 of those people from Northern Quintana Roo Presbytery, who will leave their families and their culture to join us during the week of Vacation Bible School and for a week of camp at Pyoca. Please surround these folks in prayer as they begin to prepare for their journey to Indianapolis. Also remember to lift up in prayer, those 260 people from Whitewater Valley Presbytery, who will go to Mexico this summer and celebrate VBS with 11 of our partnership churches, using the same curriculum.
Our visitors from Mexico will again need a place to stay. Please consider opening up your home in hospitality to these folks from July 23 – August 9 (some of this time will be spent at Camp Pyoca). Your responsibilities as a host include welcoming them into your home, transportation to and from church, offering some shopping opportunities and sharing breakfast and some dinners with them. This is a great opportunity to not only share your faith and your culture with someone, but also to learn from them. Copies of the music CDs for VBS are in Lisa Crismore’s office. Please stop by and pick one up, so that your children will have a head start on learning the songs for the week of VBS. These are free, so one per family, please!

The Margaret Wilson Scholarship
Applications for the Margaret Wilson Scholarship will be available for all eligible post-secondary college, university, or trade school students, who will be attending school this fall. The applications will be due by June 1st and the successful applicants will be notified by June 15th. A BIG thanks goes to Patty McKinnon and Karen Monesmith for writing all the documents. A HUGE thanks goes to Margaret Wilson and her family, who have given money so that the youth and young adults will be supported in furthering their education! The selection committee for 2008, as approved by the Session, is Jan Dorsey, Ashley Williams, and Gary Shaw.
