Dawnie's Retirement Celebration!

Tail Gate Picnic - Tomorrow - Saturday - September 18

We kick-off Dawnie Barnhouse's retirement celebration with a tail gate picnic tomorrow, Saturday at 5pm. You will need to bring your own food and lawn chairs (although we will have extra tables and chairs set up). We look forward in celebrating Dawnie's musical gifts and ministry of 30 years as we gather in our parking lot.

This Sunday at John Knox

You are invited to join us for worship - either in-person or online - at 9:00 am or 11:00 am this Sunday, September 19, 2021. We will continue to celebrate and honor Dawnie at both worship services. Our guest preacher, Rev. Jim Pfeiffer joins us as we look forward to hearing his message. Jim is a Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Supervisor at St. Vincent Hospital and recently announced his retirement to take place at the end of 2021. If you wish to join us online for either service, you may do so through Facebook Live and our website. Click here to watch our streaming live services. Please note: You do not have to have a Facebook account to view our services. There are also Church School offerings for ages 3 yrs. old - adult at 10am.

Session Update on Security:

In light of the recent theft of the sound board, session met this past week and have made the following decisions concerning security:

  • The sanctuary and choir room doors will be locked when the sanctuary is not in use.
  • We will keep the south entrance doors unlocked during office hours.
  • Request that Trustees to look into having beepers connected to all doors opening to the outside and making the beeping sound louder.
  • Session will re-visit these decisions at our next regular stated session meeting on 9/27.

An Update on the theft of the Sound Board - the person, who stole our system, has been arrested. They had pawned the system and it looks like we will be able to recover it. Thanks to all who helped recover the security tape, positively identifying the person and having a picture of the sound board with the serial number.

Interim Search Committee Update

The Committee has requested a meeting with session tomorrow at 7pm.  The session will vote on the candidate of the committee’s recommendation. As always, for questions please contact Sue Hartman, Troy Judy, Goehrig Orr, Judy Ricketts, Kel Winton or Pam Herman, Clerk of Session.

Sunday - September 26 - Worship

NEXT Sunday, September 26, we will have a special Sunday morning schedule. Because some will be at Pyoca that morning for the All-Church Retreat, we will only have a traditional worship service at 9am. There will be no Church School for all ages at 10am. There will be no 11am worship service at John Knox that day.

Organ Recital - October 10

Sunday, October 10 at 6:30pm John Knox will host an Organ Recital in the sanctuary. All are welcome to attend! Our own Shayla Van Hal will be offering an evening filled with beautiful music from our organ. Please mark your calendars and plan on attending. There will be more information in the October Tidings.

Upcoming Events:

October 9 - Visit The Lume - Vincent Van Gogh Special Exhibit at the Art Museum
October 19 - Prime Timers at Rustic Root
October 31 - Trunk or Treat Drive Thru from 2-4pm

I am looking forward to a wonderful weekend, celebrating Dawnie Barnhouse. Please join us!
